Opening a Bank Account in Dubai

Understand what is required to open a bank account in Dubai...

Opening a bank account in Dubai is straightforward. New customers are advised to go into a branch of the chosen bank with the following documents:

  • A residency visa. Only residents of Dubai can open a current account in the country. Most banks will accept a letter from the customer's employer stating that their employee has applied for a visa
  • Passport and a photocopy
  • A letter of 'no-objection' by the customer's employer or sponsor. This is a letter, which should be in both Arabic and English, which confirms details of the customer's salary so the bank will know how much money will be deposited into the bank on a regular basis
  • Proof of address, for example the tenant's rental agreement
