Customs and Immigration
All travellers must have a visa to enter Dubai by land, sea or air. The requirements, processes and cost are determined by the nationality of the traveller.
Travellers should be prepared to have their luggage checked by customs officials regardless of whether they provide a verbal or written declaration of the goods they are carrying. There is a strict "no drugs" policy in the UAE and the list of banned substances include some common narcotics-based medicines.
Transport and Parking
Taxi services are available 24/7 outside all the terminals. They can also be reserved in advance for pick up/drop off at the airport. The Dubai Metro red line makes stops at Terminal 1 and 3. There is a wide range of rental car companies located at each terminal. Additionally, many hotels offer airport transfer shuttles to registered guests.
There are parking lots at all three terminals. The parking rates are calculated every half hour for the first hour, then hourly afterwards.
Some companies provide meet and greet services at Dubai airport. They offer various packages that include speeding up customs and immigration formalities upon arrival and a porter service through terminals and baggage claim.
Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)
Al Maktoum International Airport is located just off Route 66 (Al Ain Road) about 40 Km from Dubai International Airport. It is currently only open to cargo flights, but passenger flights are planned once construction is complete. Only international airlines will fly into and out of Al Maktoum International Airport, Emirates will continue to use Dubai International Airport.
