Ferries in Picardy and Nord Pas-de-Calais

There are no ferry services to or from the Picardy region, however there are two ports in the adjacent Nord Pas-de Calais offering ferry service to and from the United Kingdom.

Port of Calais

As of February 2011, the port of Calais is served by two ferry companies providing transportation (for people, cars and animals) from Calais to Dover, England. Crossing time is approximately 90 minutes (there is a one-hour time difference between England and France).

A bus service (usually available 10:00-20:00; check with the port to confirm) is available to and from the port and Place d'Armes in the centre of Calais. Service is also available between the port and the railroad station upon request. The Calais Ville train station offers regular service to Paris and other cities.

The port is located:

  • 47 Km (29 miles) from Dunkerque (35 minutes by car)
  • 291 Km (181 miles) from Paris (3 hours by car)
  • 380 Km (236 miles) from Amsterdam (3 hours 45 minutes by car)

Two motorways (the A26 and the A16) are directly accessed from the Calais Cross Channel Terminal at the port.

Dunkerque

The port of Dunkerque is served by ferry service to Dover, England. Crossing time is approximately 120 minutes (there is a one-hour time difference between England and France). Passenger ferries depart from the Terminal Roulier du Port Ouest, Loon-Plage, Dunkerque.

The port is located:

  • 47 Km (29 miles) from Calais (35 minutes by car)
  • 300 Km (187 miles) from Paris (3 hours 5 minutes by car)
  • 327 Km (203 miles) from Amsterdam (3  hours 30 minutes by car)

Two motorways (the A25 and the A16) are directly accessed from the Port de Dunkerque.
