Tax and Banking
For many years Monaco has benefited economically from its attitude towards tax and banking. The banking community has a strict code of confidentiality towards its clients.
In 1869, Prince Charles III of Monaco ordered that revenue would not be taxed in Monaco, this remains true and taxation is very low in the Principality.

Société des Bains de Mer (SBM)
Société des Bains de Mer Resort (SBM Monte-Carlo) was established in 1863 by Prince Charles III of Monaco. The Group's primary activity is the management of casinos and hotels in Monaco, with it owning the Principality's best hotels, casinos, and banks. These include Casino de Monte-Carlo, Cafe de Paris and Sun Casino, the Hotel de Paris, Hotel Hermitage, Piscine des Terrasses, Monte Carlo Beach Hotel and Monte-Carlo Sporting Club.
