To receive cable TV, it may be necessary for the provider to install cabling and other equipment if it is not already available in your building. Additionally, a subscription will be required, usually with a minimum contract period. Cable TV packages are often combined with telephone and internet servies. Most mobile telephone companies also offer high speed internet packages combined with telephone and television.

In Germany, the Astra 2 satellite transmits English speaking channels such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky.

Other satellite options are Intelsat and Eutelsat.

Premiere is one of the biggest digital satellite providers in Germany offering programme packages or subscription to individual channels. Although it does not broadcast specifically in English, Premiere shows live games from the English premiership as well as many other European leagues on Saturday afternoons and other sports including Wimbledon, Formula 1 and major golf tournaments. It offers multiple-language commentary and multiple interactive screens for example to watch more than one match simultaneously.

Print Publications

Most major publications are available online as well as in print. For a more portable digital version, apps like the Mail Plus App from the UK's Daily Mail Group allow the latest news to be read on a phone or tablet, often for much less than the cost of a subscription.

Daily international newspapers and a wide range of magazines are available from many newsstands and newsagents throughout the country. English newspapers are available on the day of publication.
