There is a charge for the installation of water meters in new builds and in properties without a previous connection. The chargeable amount depends on the complexity of the work. If a meter is already in place, there is no charge for connection to the mains.
In order to apply for connection to drinking (potable water) the following documentation is required:
- Deed of purchase or rental agreement or housing contract
- ID card or passport
- Company certificate and completed direct debit form (for business applications)
Sub-meter connections are required in certain apartment complexes. In order to apply, residents in these areas are required to have the AMC1 form completed and signed by their management company. A list of areas in Gibraltar and management companies that require this form is available online.
In order to apply for a salt water connection, which is used for flushing toilets and for sanitary purposes, an application form must be completed and submitted to AquaGib.
Readings are taken monthly by the employees of company, however some meters may be inaccessible and may have to be read by the owner of the property. Meters are read taking the black numbers and the first red number.
