A scooter licence for scooters up to 50cc is obtained by taking a theoretical and practical test at a police station and paying for the licence. Drivers must be at least 15 years old when they take the test. The licence is valid for life.

From age 16, drivers may apply for a licence for motorbikes with a maximum engine capacity of 125cc.

For more powerful motorbikes, the two categories of licence can be obtained from 18 years old and 20 or 21 respectively. From age 18, it is possible to apply for a licence up to 25 kW, or a power to weight ratio of up to 0.16 kW/kg. To obtain a licence for any other category of motorbike the person must be at least 21 years old, or hold a licence up to 25 Kw for at least two years.

To apply for a driving licence, candidates must be at least 18 years old and be enrolled in a driving school. In most cases, the driving school the student attends takes care of all paper work and arranges exams.
