Skiing in Hungary

Information on the facilities available for alpine and cross-country skiing in Hungary...

There is some limited skiing in Hungary. As it is landlocked, the country often experiences significant snowfalls in winter. The Northern Uplands have some places to ski, including pistes on Kékes, Hungary's highest peak. Cross-country skiing is often more reliable than the downhill pistes.

Skiing is also possible in Bükk National Park where there are pistes to suit all levels of skier and snow boarder. The Mátra ski area is good for more experienced skiers and boarders. It has cross-country ski routes and a half pipe. Skiing is also possible at Pilis. It is generally necessary to have your own skiing equipment as there is little available for hire.
