The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is responsible for local administration and daily life in the city. It provides citizen services related to water and electricity supply, property tax, birth and death registration, waste disposal, disaster management and road maintenance.

The MCGM operates 24 Citizen Facilitation Centres in the 24 wards of Mumbai.

The Thane Municipal Corporation provides similar services to the MCGM to residents in the Thane District.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is the government department responsible for local administration and citizen services to residents of the Navi Mumbai area.

Immigration Offices

Foreigners visiting India on a long-term visa (more than 180 days) are required to register their stay at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival. The registration must be made in person. In Mumbai, registration is carried out at the following address:
