Indonesia has very restrictive abortion laws and termination of pregnancy is generally only permitted for one of the following reasons:

  • To save the life of the mother
  • If the pregnancy is the result of rape or an act of incest (only within the first six weeks of pregnancy)

The consent of the husband or a family member is required if the woman is unable to consent to the procedure.
