Animal Welfare Organisations
The Jakarta Animal Aid Network is non-profit, and aims to protect wildlife and stray domestic pets. Their office in Jakarta, however, does not have any facilities for sheltering animals.

ProFauna opposes the illegal trade in wild animals, and has its headquarters in Malang, East Java.
In Indonesia, there are a number of organisations dedicated to saving orangutans, which are a critically endangered species and found only in the rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo, and saving gibbons, which are also an endangered species.
The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation works towards conserving Borneo’s orangutans with the cooperation of local communities.

Kalaweit has a number of sites in Borneo where they work with gibbons and orangutans: Palangkaraya, the Hampapak and Pararawen Reserves, and Mintin.
Their Padang site in Sumatra includes the Gibbon Conservation Centre where trafficked animals are cared for. Kalaweit also manages the Air Tarusan and Supayang Reserves.
