Tokyo Ferries

There are two main types of ferries operating in Tokyo:

  • Local ferries that operate like water buses connecting points in the city
  • Long distance ferries that connect Tokyo with other cities further afield. In addition to carrying passengers, these ferries usually accept cars and cargo for transport

Local ferry services

  • Tokyo Cruise Ship Co, Ltd: Operates several routes in downtown Tokyo along the Sumida River and Tokyo bay (website in Japanese). The routes include:
    • Asakusa – Hinode Pier – Hamarikyu
    • Asakusa – Odaiba – Toyosu
    • Odaiba – Hinode Pier
    • Hinode Pier – Palette Town – Tokyo Big Sight

  • A Line: Tokyo to Okinawa with a stop at Kagoshima (website in Japanese)
