Museums in Luxembourg

Luxembourg is home to a number of museums; museums featuring art and handicrafts and museums of industry, transport, trade, agriculture, viticulture and nature.

The Luxembourg History Museum has a permanent collection portraying key moments in the capital's history. Visitors can discover architectural developments and many aspects of cultural and social life through multimedia installations and a wide variety of exhibits. Regular temporary exhibitions are hosted here.

Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle (Natur Musée): The permanent collection of the National Museum of Natural History focuses on world history, ecology and evolution. Each room has a different theme on subjects such as planets, the Earth, regions of Luxembourg, landscapes and our ancestors.

Photothèque de la Ville de Luxembourg: The Luxembourg Photograph Library contains over two million images of the country, some of which are available for purchase.

The National Art and History Museum collections include modern and ancient art, archaeological objects, weapons, medals and coins. Temporary exhibitions take place throughout the year.

Am Tunnel: Contemporary art gallery situated in a tunnel underground that links the headquarters offices of the BCEE, the Luxembourg national bank. Art on display includes works by over 100 artists from the Grand Duchy and a unique collection of photographs from Edward Steichen.
