Public Transport

Bus services in Malta are operated by Malta Public Transport. Accessibility to the vehicles provided by the company is good, aided by a low floor.

Vehicles are equipped with designated seating areas for those with impaired mobility, as well as electronic information panels and audio announcements for the next stop.

Parking Permits

Holders of a Blue Badge are entitled to have the vehicle in which they are travelling park in special designated zones, so long as the badge is prominently displayed.

The badge entitles the holder to the same parking privileges across all EU member states.

Reserved Parking

Space in front of the house of a person with a disability can be reserved at the discretion of the Directorate for Traffic Management. Qualifying criteria include:

  • Severely reduced mobility or requiring a wheelchair
  • Possession of a Special ID card and Blue Badge
  • Own a car registered at the address
  • Live in the house outside which the special bay is requested
  • Not owning an adjacent garage
