Alcohol
The legal minimum drinking age is 18 and alcohol is freely available throughout the country.
There are Alcoholics Anonymous support groups in English in Mexico for those for whom alcohol has become a problem. They provide support services to foreigners living in Mexico City and around the country. They have a telephone answering service, run meetings and organize events.

Drugs
The possession of small quantities of cocaine, opium, heroine, cannabis and a number of other drugs has been decriminalized in Mexico.
The National Council Against Addictions (Comisión Nacional contra las Adicciones - CONADIC) offers information and advice on drug abuse and addiction.

Teenage Pregnancy
Mexico has very restrictive abortion laws. Abortion laws are determined at a state level and vary from one state to another. However, abortion is allowed within the first twelve weeks in the event of rape or incest or to save the life of the mother.
