Buses and Trams in The Hague

Public transportation in The Hague and surrounding region are operated by HTM (Haagsche Tramweg Maatschappij)

This covers the following areas: The Hague, Delft, Rijswijk, Voorburg, Leidschendam, Nootdorp, Zoetermeer and Wateringen. Children under the age of 4 years travel free, while children ages 4-12 years travel at a reduced rate. HTM allows small pets to travel free of charge, but they must be in a pet carrier or on a leash seated in the aisle.

Food and drink should be in a bag and are not allowed to be consumed on the trams or buses.

Bicycles are not allowed on HTM trams or buses with the exception of tram lines 3 and 4 (RandstadRail). A bike can taken on board the RandstadRail trams at no charge on weekdays after 19:00 and all day Saturday/Sunday. They are forbidden all other times.

Bus and tram routes and tickets

A route map of all HTM trams and buses (HTMbuzz) is available online. Free printed maps and time schedules are available at HTM Service Points.

Single-trip paper tickets allow unlimited connections during a one-hour period. They can be purchased from the tram or bus driver. Day passes for unlimited travel on public transport during a calendar day are available for purchase at HTM service points.

A season pass (monthly or annual) offers a cost-effective way of traveling on public transport in The Hague area. These can also be purchased at the HTM service points. The buyer must be in possession of a personal OV-Chipcard.

The HTM counters are open Monday to Friday 07:15-20:00, Saturday and Sunday 09:00-19:00. The Lost and Found service can be found in Den Haag Centraal Station.

Buses and Trams in Rotterdam

The RET (Rotterdamsche Elektrische Tram) operates the public transportation system for Rotterdam and the southern part of the Randstad region. Transport is available by bus, tram, metro, waterbus and ferry.
