English-language Movies

Information on where and how to find full listings of what's on at the movies today, and in the near future. Where to find out what's showing in Panama City...

There are plenty of cinemas in Panama City and around the country showing recent releases. Most cinemas are multiplexes.

In general, foreign language films are shown in their original language with subtitles (subtitulado), although some films are shown dubbed (doblada). Children's films are generally dubbed into Spanish.

Though cinema prices have gone up significantly in recent years, they are still lower than in the US and some other countries.

Cinemas in Panama City

Cines Panama is one of the main resources for finding movie schedules in Panama. It lists all the cinemas where a movie is being screened and the times. It also gives contact details for each cinema and other films being screened there. Tickets can be purchased at the cinema and in some cinemas, there are ticket dispensing machines.

There are also a few VIP theaters in Panama, where for a small extra cost it is possible to select and reserve seats in advance. Customers can choose between fully reclining chairs, or double seats which also recline. A waiter brings food and drinks to the seat, as well as popcorn and sweets.

US Embassy Film Series

Every month, the US embassy hosts a movie night with films in English with Spanish subtitles. Movies change every month and are screened in the Museo del Canal, on Plaza de la Independencia in Casco Viejo. Entrance to the museum is free for the day.
