The main international airport serving Panama City is Tocumen International Airport. A new international airport is currently under construction in Río Hato, about two hours from Panama City. It is expected to open in 2014.

Public Transport to/from Tocumen

There are public busses that travel to and from the Tocumen Airport area, but not directly to the airport. Both Metro Busses and Diablos Rojos go to Tocumen and stop on the highway next to the road that leads to the airport.

It is not possible to take a Metro Bus on arrival at Tocumen as special cards are required. These are not available for purchase at the airport.

There are shared shuttle services that charge a flat fee per person. Taxis are available and it is possible to share a cab to the city.
