In the Philippines, most school years begin in June and end in March. Summer holidays take place from April to June.
As of 2015, some local schools and universities have changed to the international school calendar, where the school year begins in August.
Most international schools follow the international school calendar, with the first semester ending in December. The second semester begins in January and ends in early June. Some international schools recognize and follow the Philippine holidays.
All schools in the Philippines have similar school holidays, but there are additional holidays depending on the city or province. Catholic schools have additional holidays in relation to Catholic traditions and festivals.
Throughout the country, schools usually have a two- or three-week long break for Christmas and New Year. The summer break is usually two months long.
Schools are closed on public holidays.
