Children With Special Needs

Understand what kind of assistance is available for children with special needs in Russia...

Traditionally in Russia, disabled children or those with special needs were educated in special day or boarding schools or by visiting teachers at home. In recent years, efforts are being made to use the Internet and involve disabled children in distance learning, but the level of provision for special needs lags behind other advanced countries. A lack of provision in any language but Russian may also make it very difficult to accommodate special needs children.

In recent years, an effort has been made to include children with special educational needs into mainstream schools.
