Festivals
Maxidrom: Rock-music festival held since 1995. Many famous international and Russian bands and musicians have played at the festival. Held in June or July. Tickets can be purchased online or by telephone.

Chart’s Dozen (Chartova Duzhina): Rock-music festival devoted to the Russian rock music award “Chart’s Dozen”. The event usually takes place in one of the main concert halls in Moscow in February and involves well-known Russian rock groups and musicians.
Picnic: Major international music festival taking place every year in July at the Kolomenskoye historical and natural landscape museum near Moscow.

Cuban Music Festival: The annual festival of Cuban and Latin-American music. Held in July.

Moscow International Film Festival: One of the oldest film festivals in the international calendar. World-acclaimed actors and directors visit Moscow, and dozens of films compete in four categories in this festival, which takes place in June.

Golden Mask Theatre Festival (Zolotaya Maska): Festival of performing arts, taking place in late March or early April. Tickets can be bought from theatre box-offices.

Russian Orthodox Christmas (Rozhdestvo): Celebrations take place each year with many live concerts, carnivals and street fairs. A large skating-rink is built in Red Square over New Year and Christmas time, which is open to everyone for free skating.
Maslenitsa Festival: Week long festival in late February celebrating the end of winter. Featuring live music, dancing, traditional Russian food and night-time firework displays.
Moscow City Day: Annual celebration of Moscow’s foundation, takes place on the first Saturday of September. Featuring concerts and festivals in the centre of the city, mostly in Tverskaya Ulica, Red Square, Vasilievskiy Spusk, and Vorobievy Gory. The day ends with fireworks.
Sporting Events
Channel One Cup (Ice Hockey): Annual ice hockey competition organised by the Russia Hockey Federation for teams in Europe. Held in December at the Megasport Arena.

Kremlin Cup (Tennis): International world tennis tournament held in Moscow in October at the Olympic Stadium.

Russian Winter (Russkaya Zima): Annual winter indoor track and field competition. Held in February at the CSKA track. Tickets can be bought at the CSKA track box-office from 10:00-18:00.

Moscow International Automobile Salon: Motor show presenting the newest automobiles, concept cars and automobile technologies. Held in late August.
