How the Singapore Police Force penalises bad driving with a Driver Improvement Point System...

The Singapore Police Force runs a Driver Improvement Point System (DIPS) to penalise persistent bad driving.

  • A driver may accumulate up to 24 demerit points within 24 months before becoming liable for suspension
  • A driver who has previously been suspended will be allowed to accumulate no more than 12 demerit points within 12 months of their last offence

There is more information in the Driver Improvement Point System guide from the Traffic Police, which is available free of charge.

The Singapore Police Force operates an interactive website where details of a driver's outstanding offences, DIPS points and licence applications can be viewed.
