Information about the National Health Insurance scheme in South Korea and how to apply...
National Health Insurance (NHI) is compulsory for all residents in South Korea, regardless of their nationality and profession. The National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC) is South Korea's only public insurance institution and it is run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The NHI is funded by contributions from both the individual and the government. Foreigners who live in South Korea receive the same medical benefits and services as Korean citizens, as long as they are registered with the NHI and contribute towards it. Contributions differ according to income and wealth.
