South Korea is a small but beautiful Asian country. It has one of the world's highest population densities, with nearly 49 million people. Its language is related to both Japanese and Mongolian. The national language is Korean, although English is now widely taught in the nation's schools.

Freedom of religion is constitutionally protected in South Korea and the major religions practised by around half of the population are Christianity and Buddhism. However, Confucian ideas and beliefs still have a strong influence on South Korean society and values.
