The information below is a basic guide to the process, and what to expect when applying for and taking a Korean driving test.
In order to apply for a Korean driving licence, foreigners must fulfil a number of conditions. They must:
- Be over 18
- Have lived in Korea for more than six months
- Have a valid visa and alien registration card
Foreigners must follow the same procedures and tests as Koreans. The test can be taken in any of the following languages: Chinese, English, French, German, or Japanese.
To get a driving licence, applicants must undertake the following:
- One hour of traffic safety training
- Medical test
- Written test
- Technical skill test
- Road driving test

- Passport
- Alien registration card
- Four colour photographs
- Find the nearest driving licence examination office
Korean driving licences are valid for seven years.
