The information below is a basic guide to the process, and what to expect when applying for and taking a Korean driving test.
In order to apply for a Korean driving licence, foreigners must fulfil a number of conditions. They must:

  • Be over 18
  • Have lived in Korea for more than six months
  • Have a valid visa and alien registration card

Foreigners must follow the same procedures and tests as Koreans. The test can be taken in any of the following languages: Chinese, English, French, German, or Japanese.

To get a driving licence, applicants must undertake the following:

  • One hour of traffic safety training
  • Medical test
  • Written test
  • Technical skill test
  • Road driving test

Korean driving licences are valid for seven years.
