Below is information on the various support organisations and helplines on the Costa Brava. While some have English-speaking staff and volunteers, there is no guarantee that English will be spoken.
Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja Española)
The Spanish Red Cross provides help for drug addicts and their families, people affected by HIV, immigrants and the elderly. It runs assistance centres for drug addicts and their families. The centres offer emergency and psychological help, a meeting place and shelter. Additional services include social integration classes and first aid courses, assistance in finding accommodation, treatment for drug addiction and mobile methadone units. Helping minors is a special priority.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a support group for recovering alcoholics. There are Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in the Cataluña Region. Though most are in Spanish, there are some meetings held in English.

Al-Anon offers support for family and friends of alcoholics. Al-Anon has English-language meetings across Spain, though none take place on the Costa Brava. There are however, Spanish-language meetings attended by - and which welcome - English speakers.

The gTt - HIV Treatment Group (Grupo de Trabajo sobre Tratamientos del VIH) is a non-profit association offering HIV treatment advice as well as advice on social, political, economic and cultural issues for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Stop SIDA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the fight against AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases. The aim of the organisation is to encourage prevention but it also provides support, information and resources to infected people, their family and friends.
gAmis is an association providing support to women with breast cancer.
The Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (Asociació de nens amb Cáncer - AFANOC) helps and gives support to children with cancer.

Narcotics Anonymous (Narcóticos Anónimos - NA) is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. There are no Narcotics Anonymous meetings held in English in the Catalonia region, though there are English-language meetings in Barcelona.
