Alcoholics Anonymous

AA Spain is the website for the English-speaking Alcoholics Anonymous network in Spain.

Costa Blanca AA (English-speaking)

The Costa Blanca AA is the English-speaking Alcoholics Anonymous network in this area of Spain. Up-to-date information is published on the website.

The national Spanish AA is Alcohólicos Anónimos.

Cancer Support

The Spanish Cancer Association (Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, AECC) provides information and support to people with cancer. There are 52 regional branches across Spain including one in the province of Murcia.

MABS is an English-speaking cancer support group. It offers support to cancer sufferers and their families including information, assistance and meetings. There is also a telephone service manned by volunteers for cancer-related questions and advice. The aim of the MABS Cancer Support Group is to help all people affected by cancer (sufferer, family and friends) by providing a telephone counselling service or through personal visits when required.

Drug Abuse

There are many drug dependency centres (centros de atencion a drogodependencias, C.A.D.) which offer advice, support and medication to drug addicts in the Murcia region.

Family Planning Clinics

The Spanish Contraception Society (Fundación Española de Contracepción, SEC) offers advice on contraception and has contact information on family planning clinics.

Spanish Red Cross

The Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja) provides help for drug addicts and their families, people affected by HIV and AIDS, immigrants and the elderly. There are Red Cross assistance centres and help points in Almería, Granada and across Andalucía. The centres offer emergency and psychological help, a meeting place and a shelter. Further services include social integration classes and first aid courses, assistance in finding accommodation, treatment for drug addiction and mobile methadone units. Helping minors is a special priority.
