Malaga City Transport
The Empresa Malagueña de Transportes (EMT) provides bus services throughout the city of Malaga. The EMT website has information on bus routes and schedules, along with a journey planner.
The website for the Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano - Area de Málaga has a journey planner as well as information about bus lines and timetables in the region.
Travellers may purchase tickets on board the bus, and bus cards and monthly passes are available. Tickets may also be bought from bus stations. If paying with cash on boarding the bus, it is likely that bank notes higher than €5 will not be accepted.
Málaga Metro was inaugurated in 2014. It is a light metro network with two lines and further lines scheduled for the future. The metro operates Monday to Friday from 06:30 until 23:00 (01:30 on Fridays). During the weekend, services start at 07:00 and continue until 01:30 on Saturdays and 23:00 on Sundays. Depending on the time of day there is a metro every seven to ten minutes.

Bus Services in Malaga and Cadiz Province
The Avanza group operates services throughout Spain including the towns and villages of the Costa del Sol and Cadiz. Malaga's main bus station is situated on Paseo de los Tilos.

Alsina Graells Sur buses operate between various towns in Andalucía and between Andalucía and other Spanish regions. Tickets may be purchased online. Discounted bus fares for large families and return travellers are available as well as travel cards, special student passes and worker cards.

Los Amarillos buses operate in provinces throughout Spain including Malaga and Cadiz and the towns of Arcos de la Frontera, Jerez and Malaga. Tickets can be purchased on the Los Amarillos website.
Socibus provides bus service throughout Malaga and Cadiz and beyond including to Córdoba and Madrid. Tickets may be purchased online.

Transportes Generales Comes operates buses in the Cádiz province and, in collaboration with other service providers, organises regular routes linking Cádiz to the main towns in Andalucía and Murcia. The company has a fleet of urban, suburban, intercity and minibuses.

Regional Trains on the Costa del Sol
Málaga province has a rather limited train service, with two local lines (C-1 and C-2). The first leaves from the Málaga Renfe station, operating in the western Costa del Sol region, and the second serves inland areas, leaving from Málaga city. Other cities are more easily reached by road.

There are train services every 30 minutes from Málaga Airport to the centre of Málaga and as far as Fuengirola, covering all the major resorts of the Costa del Sol. The service operates from approximately 05:30 in the morning until 23:30.
