The US Citizens Service is the consular section which provides detailed information on all legal matters including:
- information on passports and the registration of intended residence
- registration of births, marriages, deaths
- employment issues for the employer and employee

The American Presence Post in Lyon has jurisdiction over the French départements Ain, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, and can provide limited consular services to American citizens. The office does not accept visa applications or respond to enquiries about visas.
