Chunghwa Telecom is the largest telecommunications company in Taiwan. It is the main provider of landline telephones, as well as mobile, Internet, and broadband services.
To apply for a landline, go to a local Chunghwa Telecom outlet. There is no charge if an ASDL line is applied for at the same time as a two-year contract is taken out. It is possible to request that all billing information is in English.

A foreigner applying for a new landline should bring the following documents to support their application:
- Alien Resident Card
- Passport
- Driving licence
- Health insurance card
- Employer’s identity card
