Alien Resident Cards (ARC) in Taiwan

Alien Resident Cards (ARCs) are issued to foreigners in Taiwan. An ARC is an identity card and provides proof of an individual’s residency status.

To apply for an ARC, go in person to a local service centre of the National Immigration Office.

An application is made by completing the relevant application form, which can be downloaded from the website of the National Immigration Agency.

The following are required to support the application:

  • A passport with a resident visa
  • Proof of familial relationship with any family members who are also making an application (marriage certificate, birth certificates, household certificates, identity cards)
  • A recent passport-style photograph, taken in the previous six months
  • Proof of employment /investment in the country
  • Fee

An application to renew and extend the card should be made in advance of the expiry date at a local service centre of the National Immigration Agency.
