Getting Connected to Landlines in Turkey

The only provider of landline telephone services in Turkey is Türk Telekom, and an initial subscription is required to receive its services. There are three privately owned mobile telephone providers inTurkey; Turkcell, Avea and Vodafone Turkey. They supply personal and business telephone lines and Internet access.

Turk Telekom (TT)
TT is the national supplier of landline telephone, Internet, ADSL and wireless connection.

TT is the only company authorised to install land lines in Turkey. To get connected, customers need to fill in an online registration form and wait for customer service to call them back. Alternatively, they can subscribe at one of the TT service offices, although this is more time-consuming.

When subscribing to landline services, customers can request that their number not be listed in the telephone directory. There is a fee for this service.
When moving into a property it is possible to transfer the telephone line account into the new owner or tenant's name. This can be done online, by telephone, or at one of the TT service offices. Proof of identity of both parties, is required.

There is a fee for transferring or disconnecting a telephone line, which is added to the customer's telephone bill.
There are different tariffs available depending on usage. Phone calls are generally charged by the minute, but charges vary according to the time, day, call destination (local or abroad) and whether the number called is a fixed line or a mobile number.
There is a standard package for all subscribers, but numerous other packages and tariff options are available.

Payment of bills
TT land line bills are sent out monthly by post or email (e-bill). A fixed fee is charged as well as VAT (KDV) and SCT (special communication Tax - Ö?V).
In case of delay or non-payment, TT may stop its services and demand a penalty fee until payment has been made. Customers can pay by standing order, at some banks, online, by telephone, or at one of the TT service offices.
