American Citizens

The US Citizens Service consular section provides passport services, registration of births, information on visas, federal benefits, notary services, voting information, as well as emergency assistance to American citizens in distress. Their website has information on English-speaking doctors and lawyers in Turkey, marriage and divorce, and dual nationality in Turkey. US citizens resident in Turkey are eligible to vote in American primary, run-off, special and general elections.

US citizens living or travelling abroad are encouraged to register with their nearest Embassy or Consulate in order to receive up-to-date travel and security information and to make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of an emergency.

UK Citizens

The British Embassy in Turkey has up-to-date news on matters relating to Turkish-British relations, as well as much information on trade and investment between Turkey and the UK.

The British Embassy offers many consular services to British citizens in Turkey. These include:

  • Certifying documents
  • Providing information about transferring funds
  • Providing help for those who are the victim of a crime or in hospital

UK passports are not issued by the UK Embassy in Ankara. Applications for first passports and renewals must be sent to HM Passport Office in the UK at the following address:

Irish Citizens

The Embassy of Ireland in Turkey provides help and advice in emergency situations to Irish citizens resident or travelling in Turkey, and is also accredited to Azerbaijan. The website provides travel advice and information on travel between Ireland and Turkey.

New Zealand Citizens

The New Zealand Embassy can provide help to New Zealanders in the event of an emergency, issue emergency travel documents and provide some legal and notarial services. The South African Embassy in Turkey can provide consular services to South African citizens living in or travelling to Turkey; these include registration of birth, issuing letters of no impediment and providing help in the event of an emergency.
