Prenatal Care
Most hospitals, clinics and doctors in private practice have ultrasound equipment. Prenatal classes are available at international hospitals and private medical centres.
The following check-ups are suggested:
Week 5:
- 2D ultrasound
- Endocrine test
Week 8:
- 2D ultrasound (cardiac test)
- Endocrine test
Week 13:
- 4D ultrasound (to check foetal morphology)
- Endocrine test
Week 16:
- 2D Ultrasound
- Endocrine test
- Triple test (blood test)
Week 20:
- 2D Ultrasound
- Endocrine test
Week 22:
- 4D ultrasound (to check foetal morphology)
Week 26:
- 2D Ultrasound
- Endocrine test
Week 30:
- Blood tests
- Tetanus immunization (AT1)
- 2D ultrasound
Week 32:
- 4D ultrasound (to check foetal morphology)
Week 34:
- Ultrasound
- Tetanus immunization (AT2)
Weeks 36, 38, 39 and 40:
- Ultrasound
The Birth
The most popular way to give birth in Vietnam is at a hospital. It is possible to have an epidural. Home births are not popular and water births are not available.
In international hospitals, doctors often allow the father to be with their partner during labour and delivery.
