Hello. I'm looking to speak to people who have made the decision to leave the UK and move abroad for a potential documentary. At the moment it is just in the research phase so I'm just looking to talk to some people and find out more about the reasons they might move. Thanks and all the best, Ellie Gibbs email@example.com 020 7598 7209
Hi all, Some of our friends are big jazz fans and flying in to Singapore and Jakarta for the subsequent jazz festivals next month. Question: 1. Where's the best place to stay and be close to the venue (I believe it's Jakarta Expo Kemayoran)? 2. What's the best way to get there? 3. I saw in last year's events that there were guys selling tickets at the front of the gates. How reliable are these? Any inputs and tips are welcome!
Hi, I am going to hold a small discussion session on my project (a documentary) and expect around 15-20 people for a private viewing and Q&A. Looking for a suitable venue, away from a hotel or anything overly formal like that. But I want the place to also provide some refreshments and snacks. ideally location is in central or south jakarta and easy to access. Let me know if anyone can recommend a quiet, private and interesting place!
Hi guys, We're doing a theme party for our office inauguration next January and the boss wanted to do a 1920s Shanghai-gangland theme. I'm considering a few oriental style restos as the venue but we're looking at some live music as well. Does anyone know bands who can do jazz and classical chinese music together? If you recall one of the raiders of the lost ark movies there was that scene in shanghai. That is the scene we want to recreate. Contacts would be much appreciated.
Hello, Planning to move in with a friend to the Kembangan area and the two vices I can't get rid of are: watching sports and drinking a pint or two after work. Since I will also be around this general area during the day, has anyone got a few places to recommend to be left in peace and watch the footie while enjoying a few cold ones?
Hi all, We are by no means a club-focused information site in Jakarta unlike many local websites which are abundant and every single possible hangout place. however in a good gesture among new acquaintances, I want to bring everyone's attention to a new Club in Jakarta, called the LV Club, located on the former site of D'Bar in Kemang (address is Jalan Kemang Selatan 99, at the intersection between Kemang Raya - Ampera - Benda). They are holding a soft opening party on 26-27 September. So all you Jakarta clubbers make it a point to have a look. here is a link to their Youtube video. I've not seen a website of theirs yet, so information is limited to the social media outlets they have like twitter and facebook as well as this Youtube Video. Dear friends, After an interesting discussion with our newly acquainted friends from the Oasis Restaurant, we want to share with those persons that have an artistic streak, or would like to hold discussions with a specific theme in mind, the Raja Room Gallery located on the premises of Oasis Restaurant can offer free use of their space, on a first come first served basis. The main conditions are that the discussion or artistic event be of a NON-COMMERCIAL nature. The Raja Room has a capacity of up to 30 persons. I've seen the facilities myself and it would be very suitable for doing: poetry readings, small art exhibitions, inviting a speaker to talk about some art-related topics etc. If you are keen to make use of this generous offer, just contact James at the Oasis (specifically the Raja Room Gallery). The number is (021) 315 0646. The Oasis is located in a very classical building from the 1920s, and was once owned by a wealthy plantation owner on Jalan Raden Saleh no. 47. I commend the people there who want to bring an artistic twist to an already artsy and authentic Indonesian atmosphere. They have fine dining, and that is one of the attractions of the place; but there is also the history behind the place too, and of course the welcoming by the entire team, under GM Pak O'om Mucharam Endi. He's very knowledgeable, having worked there for 36 years and counting.
A guy walks into a bar and orders a shot of whisky. He gulps it down and peeks into his shirt pocket. He orders another shot of whisky, gulps it down and peeks into his short pocket. He orders a third shot and does the same thing. After the sixth shot, he asks the bartender for the bill, pays and starts to walk out. Curiosity gets the better of the bartender and he says to the guy, "Excuse me, but I noticed that every time you drank a shot, you kept looking into your pocket. I was wondering what's in your pocket."The guy slurs, "Well, I have a picture of my wife in my pocket. I keep drinking until she starts to look good." LOL!! Have a great weekend all! Loody Skarenda
Physics Teacher: "Isaac Newton was sitting under a tree when an apple fell on his head and he discovered gravity. Isn't that wonderful?" Student: "Yes sir, if he had been sitting in class looking at books like us, he wouldn't have discovered anything." =) Have a great Monday all!! Loody Skarenda
Hi everyone, For those enthusiasts of the performing arts, please don't miss this opportunity on watching a musical/theatre performance at the Graha Bhakti Budaya (at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Menteng) during the Valentine's Day weekend (14-16 February 2014).. A: I hate my life! B: Why? A: I am 22, working in a fast-food, and will probably never do anything better. B: Don't say that! A: You tell me! My co-worker makes fun of me all day and if I told my boss he'd probably just cut my pay, because he's just a cheap weirdo. My only friend is mentally retarded and all we ever do together is stupid things. I can't leave my hometown as I never learned to drive, I fail the driver's test evertime. B: Oh man! poor you! A: And you know what the worst part is? B: What?? A: I ive in a pineapple under the sea!!! Does any of you know who is this retarded voiced guy? *The clue is he's a friend of a yellow sponge :)
I saw your event calendar of Xmas, they are cool! Thanks! But any idea where to spend New Year's Eve? Not Bali please, I bet it's going to be crowded, not cool! There are 3 places I have in mind: The Gilis in Lombok, the Romantic Bromo (I'll be with my Indonesian girl-so crush on her at the moment HAHAHA), and on my bed - with her LOL.. The last one is the best, but I'm not sure if she would. Forget about the third option, so which one is the greatest, or if you have any others please don't mind to share (considering I'm dating this girl =3). I'd rather some places that not too crowd, romantic, memorable (I told you I'm into her). Please please do me a favor!
