Hi Kyong-Zoo,
We have many Law Firms that can help you with your condition at the moment. Please check out our Directory of Lawyers, Law Firms & Legal Advice. I believe they are able to speak English and translate all you needs from Bahasa to English. I know Siswodihardjo Halim and Partners, they certainly are used to handle expatriates and located in Kemang. We are at the same building and I've had a chat with one of the advocates, I'm sure they can help you.
Good luck,

i thank you for this. i will call your reference and ask further information i need. the matter is i not sure they think buying house under my name is a good decision, people usually suggest to buy it under my wife. it's not i don't believe her, i just want something under my own.

Just to share what I know about local property ownership by foreigners, the Government has different policy such purchase price and type of property market (high rise). Be more careful with all terms and conditions to avoid trouble in the future, because as far as I know the regulation is still unclear yet. As long as you regularly visit Indonesia or resides here it shouldn't be any problem. I can understand why some suggested you to use your Indonesian wife's name instead of yours, to make it much easier and lesser expenses. It's back to you at the end of the day, I encourage you to have it under yours, and be ready with all regulations applied.

If I'm not mistaken foreigners only have the rights of use for 25 years, then we have to renew it afterwards. Once I thought about owning a property here, I changed my mind due to the complicated regulation.

Hi Kyong-Zoo,
If you need more hint of owning property in Indonesia, please take a look at our Information of Buying Property. It certainly will give you some insights.

RENTING IS LOT EASIER, THE LAST THING I KNOW ABOUT PROPERTY OWNERSHIP FOR EXPATS HERE IT CAN'T BE LESS THAN 2 BILLION IDR. IF YOU'RE UNDER JOB CIRCUMSTANCES IT'S NOT NECCESSARY TO BUY RIGHT, JUST RENT IT. CHEAPER AND EASIER. INVEST YOUR MONEY ON SOMETHING ELSE: SHAREHOLDERS FOR INSTANCE.

My English friend needed a legal advice last year and he hired Yang and Co professional law firm in Kuningan. The lawyers and staff spoke English and some of them spoke Mandarin. He said they were experienced and reliable, worthed.

Kyong-zoo if I were you I'll invest my money on business indeed. Property investment is always promising, but you have to determine the regulation carefully. Find legal advise is the best idea, Yang and co seems reliable.
