Hi everybody probably left it a bit late but I am searching for mincemeat, can anybody please help, please, please.
Can you not make your own? It's easy enough, and you can make it to your own taste - as sweet or as sharp as you like. The Delia Online recipe is a good one -
and if you can't get suet then use Mary Berry's recipe which uses butter instead.
I started making mine a few years ago as I found shop bought mincemeat too sweet.
Good luck - and I hope your mince pies turn out to be delicious.
I'm pretty sure you'll find it in the foreign section of at least one supermarket but I have a brilliant recipe using green tomatoes and no suet. Let me know if you'd like me to send you it. Got to have homemade mince pies!!! Where are you near?
I am very near Carcassonne, none in Carrefour, Super U! Intermarche, LeClerc or Geant, any other suggestion very welcome.
Wow! I thought one of them would have some. Have emailed you.
In the time you spend driving around and trying to find some, just have a go at making some! Honestly, it takes just minutes of stirring, and if you have a good processor you can chop the apply very quickly indeed. You may just love it.
Sorry that should read 'food processor' and 'apple'!
And I intended to add - have you tried the link on this website, to a company who stock British food, and deliver it to your home:
I have made mincemeat many times before, with great success since my children were small, just this month has been a bit stressful and I have just discovered a son and daughter in law are visiting from Norway and time is short. Thanks for all advice after nearly twelve years in France there really isn't much that I miss English.
The Casino at Olonzac has Mincemeat all year round. look in the english section.
