Tapas in Spain!

We really want to go to Northern Spain for a couple of days soon but have no idea where to go! We would ideally like to visit somewhere coastal but not high rise etc... and have tapas in the evening! Also some cheap shopping would be great. Please let me know if you have any recommendations... Thanks!

Hi - I assume you would be going via the eastern end of the Pyrenees? (A9 motorway?)

At the coast, we like Cadaques (with Port Lligat 2 kms to visit Dali's eccentric home.)

Further south, we also like the Aiguablava/Tamariu/Llafranc/Calella stretch of coastline.

None of these is built-up.

Cap Creus is wild and unspoilt, good for coastal walks in a nature park, but nowhere to stay.

This is not a particularly cheap area, so the tapas tend to be expensive. If you go inland to a larger town, you may find more proper tapas bars.

Palafrugell is a nice, not too touristy town with lots going on and a huge market on Sunday mornings.

Peratalada is worth a visit in that area.

Enjoy your trip!
