Hi, Can anyone suggest a company for hiring a power boat in St Cyprien - I know there are loads of such firms but can't find any via the web ,,, I have an ISA 1 and 2 (from Ireland) in powerboats and am converting that to an ICC equivalent ... so only hiring by the day - not qualified for night sailing. Cheers
Making music is an ideal way of integrating into a new community and making new friends. I run two choirs and a recorder group in the area between Bedarieux and St Pons. The two choirs are basically French, each with a number of English speakers. I conduct the rehearsals in the French language, with immediate translations for English speakers who look bemused! One choir is ladies only and rehearses in Lamalou-les-Bains on Monday afternoons. We sing in at least a dozen languages, mostly in 3 part harmony. New members will be accepted from September. My other choir is SATB and is constantly on the look-out for new members, especially men. We rehearse in Riols (near St Pons de Thomieres) on Wednesday evenings. Our repertoire is also eclectic but with a bias towards sacred music. Our next project is Haydn's Little Organ Mass. The recorder group "Fresh Air" rehearses in/around Lamalou-les-Bains on Thursday or Friday mornings. At present we are all Brits, but never intended to be exclusively so. Although capable of playing a traditional recorder repertoire we pride ourselves on playing to entertain, both ourselves and our audiences, hence our name "Fresh Air". As well as welcoming new members we are also on the lookout for places to play! You can contact me by e-mail: email@example.com

I am looking to join a group of crafters - my main interest would be card making but would also like to try scrapbooking. Beziers or Narbonne area would suit me. I have bought card making equipment, videos, glues etc and have started making a few cards, envelopes and boxes at home but now find I need feedback and inspiration. If there are no existing groups maybe there are a few ladies who might want to meet on a regular basis to try their hand at making cards and / or scrapbooking.
I m in the le boulou area and as the light nights are not far of, i am looking for tennis partners. I am only interested in singles and would want to just hit for a few weeks because it has been a while since i was on court .I was about 3 or 3.5 but need to get back into it. can travel as I have a car. weekends or early evening would be best. mark k mark
Rock climbing in Les Gorges d'Héric: I've done some "holiday" climbing here with my wife for the past few summers, after reading about a couple of routes in Bill Birkett's 1993 Cicerone guide "French Rock". We've subsequently bought the local guide book "Caraux Escalades" by the Club Alpin Beziers Caroux, from the small shop in Mons-la-Trivalle. Dozens of routes featured, mostly bolted, but some not. Excellent quality gneiss. Great beauty and charm. There are (I'm told) hundreds of routes in the surrounding crags, but I've yet to meet another Brit (expat or not) climbing there .... does any other UK (origin) climbers go here I wonder? Adrian
