Area of Expertise : Expatriate success, wellbeing and resilience.

I work with expatriates and their families to make their overseas move successful and enjoyable. I specialise in building resilience and navigating all the emotional and practical transitions involved in expatriation and repatriation.

People work with me when:-

  • They have recently arrived and want their move to be successful
  •  They are having difficulties navigating the new culture
  • Their move has stirred up painful issues from the past
  • The move has put a lot of strain on their relationship
  • They have recently become the ‘Expat Partner’ - what is their new identity?
  • They are finding it hard to cope without their old support network
  • They feel sad and or lonely
  • They are worried about the impact of the move on their children
  • They need to prepare for their next overseas assignment
  • They want to meet and exceed their business goals in a new environment

The types of people I have worked with:-

I have worked with hundreds of people in this field, from Expat Partners, & Expatriate Families; Entrepreneurs to Chief Executives, Senior Managers and Cross-Cultural teams and also through my pro bono programme, Refugees.

What my clients say about me:-

"Alison is everything you’d want in a coach: professional; trustworthy; sensitive; open and knowledgeable. She understands the expatriate experience from all angles: the business; HR; the assignee; the accompanying partner and the family.” HR Manager, Multinational Co.

What’s best Coaching or Therapy?

That all depends on you and what you want to achieve. Coaching is directed towards the future and is results focused. You agree a timescale and outcomes and are held accountable. Therapy    seeks to bring relief from painful past experiences that influence present behaviour. The focus is on more gentle change and it tends to take longer than coaching.

How do I begin and how long will it take?

We arrange to meet and discuss what you want to achieve and together plan the way forward. We may agree to begin and ‘see how it goes’ evaluating the effectiveness of the session before planning another, or you may clearly know what you want to achieve and I can recommend a fixed number of sessions, or you may want to just experiment with a one off workshop about a topic that interests you.

The first session is free of charge, it’s about understanding what you want and deciding if it feels right to start working together.
