International Women in Portugal
International Women in Portugal, (IWP), is a social organisation for women of all ages and nationalities in the Lisbon – Cascais area. Whether you have newly arrived in Portugal or are a longer term resident, being a member of IWP is a marvelous way to meet people, make new friends and overcome the difficulties often encountered when settling into life in a foreign country.
IWP organises over 30 activities a month! These include social, leisure and cultural events, workshops and weekly activity groups:
Arts and crafts
Book clubs and creative writing
Health, fitness and sport
Language and culture
Social coffee mornings, get-togethers and lunches in local cafés and restaurants.
Mother and baby / toddler groups
Visits and trips to places of interest.
Wine, dining and cookery
Monthly newsletter and Quarterly magazine (A Janela - The Window)
We even have teams participating in the local Pub Quiz!
Members contribute both to IWP and the larger community by sharing ideas, utilising their talents and taking part in the various activities which introduce them to other women of similar interests, hobbies or backgrounds.
For certain events partners and families can join in too, so IWP provides a greater sense of inclusivity as well as a warm and friendly atmosphere.
While most members communicate in English, our membership represents many nations, and you are sure to meet others who share your native language.
Portugal has much to offer the newcomer and at IWP we have a long established reputation for offering a warm welcome to new members and for providing opportunities and activities which reflect the changing needs of women in Portugal.
SO!!! Come and take a look and say hello, you will be very welcome!
