Annual Lunch and visit to the Lines of Torres Vedras Visitors Centre
Saturday, 27th January, 2018
The Annual Lunch will be held out of Lisbon, at ‘Portal do Moinho’ - a favourite restaurant overlooking verdant countryside at Pêro Negro. The lunch will be preceded by a talk by our old friend David Evans, on the subject of “On the pretext of a painting”, which tells a story based around a painting by Constance, Lady Wenlock - who was a member of the social clique called “the Souls”- which included Blunt, Arthur Balfour, Lord Curzon etc. After lunch we will see a 15 minute film on the ‘Lines of Torres Vedras’ nearby at Sobral de Monte Agraço, followed by a visit to see the exquisite 16th Century tiles at the Manueline church of São Quintino
Meeting point : The car park behind Estoril Casino at 10.00 . Members from Lisbon may join the bus at 10.45 at Praça de Espanha , in the carpark next to ‘A Gondola’ restaurant, at the beginning of Avenida de Berna.
Please confirm by E-mail to [email protected] by Friday 19th January.
