Rochemenier - Troglodyte Village
Located in Anjou, in the Loire valley, the cave dwelling village museum of Rochemenier invites you to discover an underground world. Two ancient farms with dwellings cut into the rock in Louresse (49). See website for details and opening times.
Trogolodyte caves in the regional nature park of Loire Anjou Touraine. In July and August experience the caves at night, after 20.30 on Monday evenings.
The Chateau of the Counts of Anjou is surrounded by a fortress constructed by Saint Louis. It houses the huge wall-hanging of the Apocolypse. A visit is enhanced by the Bout-du-Monde gardens.
Bio Park Zoo de Doue
Located in de Doue-la-Fontaine, 17km from Saumur. Internationally recognised for its involvement in the preservation of endangered species. Camp giraffes, rhinos valley, canyon leopards, okapi sanctuary, plus more animals from around the world.
The Loire in Miniature
Underground display of Loire Valley churches, towns and castles in miniature carved in stone. Open from February to November 10:00-19:00, last entry at 18:15. One kilometre outside Saumur St Hilaire St Florent (49).
