The Museum of Urban Transport

Institut Lumiere Museum
Museum devoted to the Lumieres, inventors of cinema. The museum examines the familys forays into photography and three-dimensional cinema. In summer there is a popular outdoor cinema festival. Based at 25 rue du Premier Film, Lyon (69).
Museum holds one of the worlds richest collections of historic silk tapestries and other precious fabrics. The 18th-century mansion also houses fine furnishings and silverware in the Decorative Arts Museum. Based at 34 Rue de la Charite, Lyon (69).
International Footwear Museum
The museum tells the story of footwear from ancient to modern times and houses a collection of footwear from around the world. At Portail Roger Vivier, Rue Bistour, Romans-sur-Isere (26).
Situated on Fourviere Hill, is the ornate 19th-century Basilica Notre-Dame de Fourviere.The esplanade behind the citys imposing landmark has a panoramic view across Lyon which is especially lovely at night. Located at 8 Place de Fourviere, Lyon (69).
Resistance and Deportation Museum
Located in former Gestapo premises on the Saones East Bank, This museum holds large collections of wartime memrobilia. Based at 14 Avenue Berthelot, Lyon (69).
Musee dArt Contemporain
Situated in the futuristic Cite Internationale, the Musee dArt Contemporain was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, and holds a large collection of contempory art. Based at 81 Cite Internationale, Quai Charles de Gaulle, Lyon (69).
The Forez-Jarez Archaeological Centre
Shows, mock-ups, videos. Guided tours of the Roman aquaduct of Gier and archeological outings. Six areas covering the prehistoric, Gallic and Roman eras. Located at 4 bis rue Andre Malraux, Saint-Etienne (42).
