About The School

Background

Peterson Schools have been breaking new educational ground since first introducing the Montessori system in Mexico in the 1960’s and they continue to lead the way in combining the most modern and up to date teaching practices and approaches whilst retaining and respecting the very best of our Mexican culture and tradition.

Our Tlalpan Campus, one of four Peterson campuses, was designed to provide a learning oasis for students in the south of the city. Here children have an opportunity to partially escape our polluted city and enjoy a chance to study in spacious grounds with well-equipped classrooms and highly trained teachers.

Our commitment

Peterson Tlalpan aims to be the leading personalized, bilingual and multicultural school in the south of Mexico City preparing its students to meet the global challenges of the 21st Century, enabling each and every student to discover and maximize their potential in a secure and supportive environment in which they can develop their own unique identity and self-awareness.

We expect our graduates to leave us with the confidence, knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to become the effective leaders of the future.

Community

Our learning community in the south of the city is mainly comprised of professional and academic Mexican families who value the importance of an international education. We provide a growing network of bus routes that serve a wide range of communities across the south of the city.

Academic Programs

Our youngest students follow an English immersion Montessori program designed to give them the strongest possible learning foundations. This approach effectively prepares them for our bilingual, interdisciplinary primary and middle school programs which are based on the US common core standards. Alongside this we also blend in the Mexican national curriculum to ensure that our students have a balanced national and international perspective in their learning.

Student progress is continuously monitored through the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) system to ensure appropriately differentiated teaching to meet all students’ needs and College Board exams are applied as a means of independently validating our academic rigor.

At high school all our students have the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma program.

Our school is fully accredited by the SEP (Secretaria de Educacion Publica - Mexican Ministry of Education) and is revalidated by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (Mexican National Autonomous University)

Co-curricular Activities

Tlalpan campus is well equipped to provide a wide range of curricular and co-curricular sporting activities and boasts a full size, all weather football pitch and running track, a football-rapido grass pitch, as well as basketball and volleyball courts.

These sporting opportunities are also complimented by a range of artistic programs and activities that ensure a balanced after school program for all our students.
