About The School

The American School Foundation (ASF) was founded in 1888 by expats wishing to provide the best of an American-style education to students in Mexico City. It has upheld that mission for 130 years.

ASF aims to foster a caring, diverse student body and an inclusive community, promoting academic excellence, recruiting talented teachers and leadership and providing a 21st-century learning environment with modern infrastructure.

Our ultimate goal is to nurture responsible young men and women who meet their potential and will be leaders in facing the challenges of our global society.

The American School Foundation boasts a diverse student body of more than 40 nationalities. The majority of students come from the United States and the host nation. ASF operates a comprehensive network of school buses that bring students to and from the campus safely.

ASF is considered one of the leading private schools in the country, thanks to its competitive K-12 educational programs. The school is accredited by AdvancED, through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), as well as the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) in the U.S. and is authorized as an IB World School. Additionally, ASF is fully recognized by the Mexican Education Secretariat (SEP, for its acronym in Spanish) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM, for its acronym in Spanish).

ASF’s high academic standards allow students to transfer to other schools around the world seamlessly and place into top international universities.

The American School Foundation boasts top-class athletics and sporting facilities, including a 25-meter swimming pool, indoor basketball courts, tennis courts, a running track and several American football and soccer fields.
