Laser eye surgery in France

Whilst not having had treatment myself, I have friends who have been to an excellent opthalmologue. I shall eventually need cataract surgery myself and have every intention of using him. Can't quote his name on here, but in English it sounds as if he's going off a bit.
I had a retina repaired by laser surgery. My appointment at a specialist clinic in Nantes was arranged by my GP.
I have not had laser eye surgery personally, however a good friend has but in the UK. He was fine for the first two to three years but suffered from 'dry eye' and now is back using glasses as his eyesight has gotten worse, I am not sure if this happens in every case but it would be worth asking the question before having it done.
