Astronauts Exhibition at La Cité de l'Espace, Toulouse (31)

from Oct 1st 2016 to Dec 31st 2018

Astronauts Exhibition at La Cité de l'Espace, Avenue Jean Gonord - BP 25855 31 506 Toulouse CEDEX 5 until December 2018

Live life ... as an astronaut!    The new exhibition at the Cité de l'Espace will enable you to slip into the extraordinary daily life of an astronaut in orbit.   The exhibition starts with special events: the departure in space and the ISS of the French ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet in mid-November 2016.   The International Space Station (ISS) is a vessel that circles the Earth every 1h30, it is in orbit 400 km, with six astronauts on board.    In weightlessness, everything is different, every gesture of daily life is to reinvent, to relearn. Space is a unique environment that disrupts all functioning of the body.
After a presentation of the training of the astronaut, you're immersed in realistic scenery overlooking the Earth at 400 km, and then you enter a space station, while both "home" and "laboratory" of the astronauts. Through practical experiences you discover the amazing living conditions of astronauts in space, where each movement is new: bathing, eating, working, relaxing ... and this at a rate of 16 sunrises and sunsets a day!

You can also enjoy the breathtaking views that only astronauts can contemplate every day from the Space Station: the Earth travels at the speed of 8 km or second Paris-Toulouse in 75 seconds! A strong awareness of the beauty of our living planet.
