Windows on Courtyards Exhibition at Musee des Augustins, Toulouse Museum of Fine Arts, 21 rue de Metz, Toulouse (31) until 17th Aptil every day except Tuesdays, from 10h to 18h.    Wednesdays until 21h.    An original exhibition on the theme of the representation of the court in painting, from the 16th to the 20th century century.    Windows on courtyards unfolds from the sixteenth to the twentieth century, the look of the painters on the inner courtyard.    Atriums, patios, cloisters, courts of palaces, farms and urban streets follow one another, seen by Hubert Robert, Corot, Boudin, Bonnard, among others.
Deserted or populated, these courses are a poetic exploration between landscape, real or imagined architecture, large and small history(s) that speak essentially of the human.    This space of the inner courtyard is rich of sociological, architectural or historical backgrounds.    For the painter, it is a place where pulse the story but also a decor of public life or deprived of its characters.   Between interior and exterior, this space allows it to combine the light of day and the protective shade of intimacy, the pomp of great events and the warmth of the fireplace.    The Augustins museum, a former convent built around a large Gothic cloister and a small Renaissance cloister, is the ideal place to host this meditation on poetics of a genre.
