The photocard part of my British driving licence is expiring at the end of April. I can renew it in the UK but that means I will have to drive around for a month without a licence (or not drive at all) because they need the original licence to be able to renew it. I have talked to the police who tell me it is not possible to have a statement made saying that a photocopy is valid and they suggest that I get an Italian one. Does anyone know if it is possible to renew my British one and still be able to drive while it's being renewed? Any pearls of wisdom?
